SCU is currently seeking assistance with legal fees to appeal a decision by the City Commission to approve a multifamily development not in compliance with the Comprehensive Plan or LDR's of the city. As approved the developer will be allowed to build 26.5 units per acre on a 3 acre site which is situated next to an established, mature single family neighborhood and does not provide sufficient parking. None of this is compliant with the existing development guidelines which state a maximum of 10 units per acre next to a single family neighborhood. The Planning and Zoning Commission voted 4 to 1 against this development, yet the City Commission ignored them and voted to approve it. We think it is wrong and that is why we are pursuing this.
We are a group of concerned citizens that think our City Government is not acting in the best interests of its residents when it comes to growth and development in Sanford, Florida. As such, we plan to work to inform the residents of Sanford of these proposed developments and related growth issues, as they arise and work to make sure that the City adheres to the Comprehensive Plan, LDR's and other Zoning requirements.
Our Goal is to help keep the character, beauty and appeal that makes people want to live here.
